Japanese food vending machines

I had made another post mentioning a little bit about the vending machines you can find in Japan, but didn't go into great detail as it was just a post about random weird shit/facts.

I'll dedicate this whole post on a few of the FOOD vending machines you can find around Japan and my thoughts.

I'd love it so much if vending machines were as widespread here in the US as they are in Japan. Knowing the variety options for actual food at vending machines, one would think that the Japanese don't even cook at home. I probably wouldn't either. I mean hello!?! you can find them everywhere! Look outside your apartment, shit there's 10 of them lining the sidewalk! Although I do believe that unless the machine says "HOT", you'd have to go home and actually cook. Most meal machines will have the ingredients of your selection in frozen vacuum sealed bags with instructions, and you go home and cook or heat it up yourself. What the heck, that's so genius!!! Definitely is a must if your life is super busy and you don't wanna spend hours making dinner... OR you just don't like to cook. Either way, these types of machines are amazing! But I can see the heavy maintenance that needs to be put into them. Like constantly making sure they're stocked or even work properly.

Hold the phone! You know what scratch that whole idea of bringing them here... I did not take into account the fact that US screams theft, crime and vandalism. These vending machines would not last a day on these streets. Unless it's actually inside of a building, it will get broken into 100% guarantee! So sad, but you know it's the truth. I ain't saying that Japanese population are saints and no crime ever happens but being one of top 5 countries with the lowest crime rates, that's pretty darn good. The Swiss hold the top spot just FYI... oh I want a burger with swiss cheese now. Anywhos off topic!
Oh ok sorry before the rest of the random food vending machine pics, let me explain why I decided to write this. I've explained before that I love Japan food and travel videos on youtube. I found another one called Tabieats. I love them, super adorable and likeable. And the first video I saw was of them going to a vending machine that sold a cake in a can. Not your average cheapo birthday cake rubbish, but actual gourmet flavors. Cakes and parfaits so neatly placed in the cans was super eye catching. It comes with a spoon too and you pop the lid off like you would with a pull tab type soda can. I love it! Patisserie Okashi Gaku I believe made their vending machine available in Sapporo. I'm sure since then more has popped up. These are pretty pricey, but to try it shit, I'd spend ¥1100 on it. That's about $7.35 conversion right now. This fat girl would try all the different flavors gosh darn it!
Anyways, that's about it, I really wanted to talk more about the different things the machines sell but I'm old and I'm tired and frankly I'm boring the crap out of myself again...
enjoy the other random food vending machine pics I found... These actually exist, it's crazy!
Ugh! I'm hungry now.

Fancy ramen! pork and egg slices even.!
oh shit wait, I think this is the ones where you put your order in on the
machines and people make it and you pick it up from the window.
so this don't belong on the list... but it's still neato so I'll leave it.

prolly just tastes like cup-o-noodles,
gimmie!

Pizza!!! I need this in my living room ASAP!
What vending machine isn't 24 hours?
what? is that a burger, onigiri, noodles,
gyoza and pork hash on one plate!
what if I just wanted one banana?

I wonder if you need your ID for this?
Let's put some vending machines in the forest too!!!

Covid Trash! #3

What brought upon this entry? I mean besides the known fact that I fuckin HATE litter and the people that litter (as evidence of my other 2 "trash" related blog posts), was this National Geographic article. The picture that saddened my heart and boiled my blood was a picture of a dead fish stuck in the thumb of a rubber glove. This lead to my digging up of more pictures, articles, and statistics.
Littering obviously is a choice. I'm not talking about the ones that dispose of their trash in the trash cans and mother nature decides to send some fricken wind storm our way and blows our trash right out of the trash bins. I'm talking about the ones that blatantly say "Fuck this planet" and decide to toss their trash on the ground, or shove it in a bush thinking that is any better.
With covid numbers going down in the US and less people wearing PPE, that will eliminate the masks and gloves we see around our communities. It will give the litter bugs a couple less things to just toss on the ground. That's a small plus I guess. Doesn't take away from the fact that the trash has already reached our oceans. Beach and ocean clean up crews collecting hundreds, if not thousands of masks and gloves at a time, amongst other trash as well. These clean up crews are mostly made up of volunteers that care about the environment and this planet. They are non-profit organizations funded by donations made by others that give a crap and who are not able to be there in person to help out. The ones that choose to donate do make a huge difference. They provide the funding for the amazing contraptions that sail the oceans and rivers skimming the pollution. There are several organizations you can find if you just google it.
During the height of the pandemic, well when the lockdown was lifted, taking a walk around town I did see many masks and gloves, and of course regular trash. The difference, I did not pick these up. I had nothing to pick these up with and the paranoia of thinking what could possibly be lurking on these items made my decision to walk past it for me. In a normal time I wouldn't think twice if I saw a trash can near, I'd just pick it up with no thought given. The times we live in now made it very difficult for me as well as I'm sure many others. I've been better lately with picking some things up every once in a while. Equipped with my trusty hand sanitizer in my pocket and 2 shots of Pfizer vaccine running through my body. But it's still a work in progress. I'm thinking of investing in one of those grabber pincher thingys, I don't know what they are officially called but "grabber/pincher thingys" sounds legit to me.
Alright I've vented enough... again.
If you wanna read my other previous "trash" ramblings here's the links for those... enjoy my brain:

I hate litter #2
Look, I'll be honest, I've thrown many cigarette butts out the car window in my day I won't lie. Or thrown cigarette butts over the wall into an empty lot at home, but realized the very hypocritical error of my ways, took a bag and picked up all my butts and other people's as well (some were NOT my brand). Or at my old job would sit by a planter, smoked and put my cigarette butts in the planter, once again, picked up all my butts filling an empty screw-top Monster drink can to the brim. The point to those stories was simply saying, I messed up and changed. You choose to do better from here on out does matter. It does make a difference... one person at a time, one piece of liter at a time.

Weird Random facts

I love learning new things no matter how useless the information. So naturally I’ve decided to share them. My commentary is just there to fill in the space. There is so much more then what I’m gonna put in here but I’ll cut it down for length reasons. I might just have to make more entries of this “Weird facts” topic. And since I’m done with all the posted assignments for school for the next week, I got time… and holy crap, I just saw It's been 2 years since I've posted to this blog... I better get writing yo!

In Japan, there are more Vending machines than people: 23 to 1
I think I could just make a whole entry of all the interesting and weird stuff in Japan. I’m not knocking Japan one bit… I love all the beautiful and crazy shit that country has to offer, I mean that’s half my people and all. All of it super fascinating to me.

But anyways, on with the list. Of course there’s the normal ones like sodas and candies and I’m sure there’s a whole lot more weirder ones then what I have listed here.

  • milk
  • ice cream
  • beer and tobacco
  • umbrellas
  • flying fish soup
  • crepe
  • hot food
  • ramen
  • burgers
  • bread in a can
  • pantyhose
  • hot canned soup
  • condoms
  • rice
  • eggs
  • fruit
  • vegetable and salad
  • reading glasses
  • batteries
  • surgical masks

One super weird one that got banned by their government was used school girl underwear vending machines… Yes you read that right.

A Greek-Canadian man invented the pineapple pizza
No joke, on several occasions I did have people ask “why do you guys put pineapple on your pizza?” Bruh! We never invented this shit! Just cuz there’s pineapple on it and it’s called a “Hawaiian pizza” doesn’t mean the Hawaiians came up with it. Some Greek dude that moved from Greece to Chatham, Ontario opened up a pizza shop and during their experimental phase, put it on for fun to see how it tasted and I guess it got a lot of takes, because you see it everywhere now.
Oh it’s pizza and I’ll still gonna eat the shit out if it, but it’s funny when people order pizza for everyone and says “Skully! I got you your favorite pizza” aww thanks you fuckin racist!… joking of course.

Pogonophobia is the fear of beards

LOLS!!!! For reals? I read that and had to research more.
So here are some reasons why people fear beards:
  • they may have had a negative experience with a bearded person
  • unfair stereotypes about people with beards
  • misunderstanding cultural norms that require people to grow facial hair
  • associating facial hair with illness or being unclean

Now that last one had some extra study attached to it. In a 2018 study they found that beards contained “significantly higher” amounts of bacteria than dogs do. Yikes! But when groomed very well it looks so hot on some dudes.
*so I googled "Hot guys with beards" for my picture that I wanted to put here and the first picture was of Hagrid, lols!!!...So I'll just use it.

The average adult spends more time on the toilet then they do exercising
In a 2017 study found that adults spend an average pf 3 hours and 9 minutes on the toilet and only 1 hour and 30 minutes being physically active. I’m gonna assume they did a study on people with constipation, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, or someone who took their phone into the bathroom.

Mulan has the highest kill-count of any Disney character

She killed over 2,000 people. 1,994 of them were killed in the avalanche she started.
I’m gonna assume they are not counting all the innocent casualties any of the Avengers (now part of Disney) have inadvertently killed throughout their films.

The water on our planet is very old
The water we have now is the same water that existed hundreds of millions of years ago. The next time you drink a glass of water, you could be drinking dinosaur pee. Think about that.

Squirrels plant thousands of trees every year
Simply by forgetting where they put their acorns. Thank you little squirrels! Everyday is Arbor day!

Sharks kill fewer than 10 people per year. Humans kill about 100 million sharks per year

73 million of those sharks are killed only for their fins.  Shark fin soups, other shark fin dishes. It has no nutritional value but is believed to have the benefit of virility and longer life… “believed” being the operative word here. After they’re caught they have their fins cuts and their bodies still alive, tossed back into the water to sink to the bottom of the ocean where they die slowly by drowning, bleeding to death or being eaten alive by other sea dwellers. So sad.

OK that last one depressed me so I’ll end this with a funny one just to lighten the mood…

Lobsters pee out of their faces... Ew.
Lobsters have urine-release nozzles right under their eyes. They urinate in each other's faces as a way of communicating, either when fighting or mating. Lobsters are super into golden showers I guess! Awesome!

I hope y’all learned something… and had a chuckle or two along the way. See learning useless facts is fun. Don’t say I never taught you nothin’!

I HATE litter #2

For the people that know me, its no surprise... I HATE litter. I mean come on, this is the second blog I've made dealing with the subject. I know I will be repeating myself for the most part, but I don't give a shit, this is my blog.
the following link is the first one I wrote 2 years ago.
Please Stop Littering #1
I hate people that litter most of all because ultimately, that's where it starts... people.
Well I take that back, it might be from that bastard raccoon that goes into your trash cans during the night and tears the shit out of your trash that you so responsibly put in the proper receptacles... OK sorry off topic.
Anywhos, The spark that lead me to write another trash blog (trash because its about rubbish, not because my blog is trash, fuck you! anyways...) because recently I saw pictures of Canal Saint-Martin in Paris drained and cleaned. The first time since 2001 the last time taking out more then 40 tons of garbage and debris. That's a fuckin' whole lot of trash for 4.5 Kilometers of canal. For more amazing pictures, you can just google it. I'm sure you'll be surprised at the crap that was in there.
I love how they carefully caught the fish and moved them. I was thinking, did they put the fish back after? But I'm assuming they just put them on the other side of the canal dam, but I really don't know, but either way, the fish were safe.
I mean the shit that they found at the bottom. Thousands of bikes and mopeds, tons of bottles, boomboxes, cameras, phones. Some things I'm sure was dropped in there by accident, but majority of the crap in there you know were deliberately tossed in. Its so sad.

And the next picture, we've all seen this... Over filled public trash cans and people STILL pile their trash on top of it. I'm so sorry I know it's not your fault that the property management people didn't empty the trash fast enough, but when you see shit like this and you just add to this mess, piss off. You are no better then the people that just toss their trash on a sidewalk. You're still littering despite the fact that you put your trash "around" a trash receptacle. You bought that fast food right? You own all that packaging (cups, wrappers, bags) that it came in. You are responsible for properly disposing of that rubbish, not leaving it somewhere for someone to come along and pick up after you. With the attitude "It's someone else's job to pick it up". Um not really motherfucker!. That's YOUR responsibility. It's only their job because of assholes like you who think it's ok to leave rubbish around. People suck.
The next two pictures I found were from a concert event and tailgate party...
What the Fuck!... terrible!
No respect for anything seriously! And of course, all these people that did this in their minds..."other people are gonna clean this up tomorrow while I'll be at home, comfy in my bed nursing a hangover because, I'm a piece of shit"... I sound disgusted?... naaahhhh you think?
Call someone out on that shit and if they really think, yeah it was wrong, I guarantee you that most of their excuses were, I was drunk I didn't mean to. If you really look at most of these pictures of mass gatherings majority of the trash on the ground are bottles of alcohol. I did have a spring break picture in here but I figured since I vented in my last post about those idiots I won't put one here.
Even if people go camping in the woods or parks where really you'd think people that go to these places would have a bit more respect for nature, not always the case. OK so I will admit that this pic I didn't dig for an explanation as to where this was or what the circumstance around it was. Like who knows, maybe these people got chased out of their camp site by a machete wielding grizzly bear and had to ditch all their stuff, I don't know. OR!! maybe those darn raccoons are back and tore into those trash cans again. I... don't... know.
Next is Summer Solstice at Stonehenge....
It's a fricken wonder of the world!! according to some lists, I'm confused on that because some say it is and some say it isn't and some say it is, what ever! It's a monument though and these asshats that went to the summer solstice sunrise decided to just desecrate the grounds with their hippie trash. A monument!!!!  Ugh!!!! I'm so mad I could punch a hippie in the face!

Alright I'm done...and the next pics are more of the poor wildlife that has to suffer for our irresponsibleness.

Did Dinosaurs really exist?... Yes!!! idiots!!!

Why are there still people who don’t believe in Dinosaurs?
I don’t understand this and probably never will.
No matter how much actual physical evidence paleontologists find, people still don’t believe they ever existed. Which saddens me so much. Evidence!
Museums with dinosaur bone displays have non believers walk through them inspecting, and criticizing the bones and clearly seeing that the bones are not real, but plaster mold replicas, and they take that as their sign that dinosaurs are "fake" and scientists are making this shit up. They don't understand that most museums have several real bones and to complete the rest of the majority of the structure needs to be filled in with plaster bones. Just the sheer appreciation of knowing that something of this massive size once roamed the earth some 100 million years ago isn't enough for some.
I'd love to build a time machine and shove them all in and set it to the Mesozoic Era. Just to be nice, send them to the more recent of the 3 periods just because the lands already split by that time and its the cooler of the 3. The first flowering plants, insects and tree climbing mammals live now. So hopefully the non-believers that I now realize that I sentenced to their death, can have some of shred of survival. Besides, the Cretaceous Period is when my favorite dinosaur lived... The Triceratops. So I'll slightly be jealous because they'll be able to see one. Aye, WTF am I talking about. Anywhos!!!! moving on.
I am partial to creationists. They believed dinosaurs existed, but they believe dinosaurs existed when humans did. They believed people were created on the 6th day the same time as the dinosaurs. I do have a problem with this, but hey, at least they believed dinosaurs existed right?  Haha
Then of course the more I read the more ridiculous it sounds and my respect for their belief in dinosaurs slowly fades as I kept reading about what exactly their “belief” entails. 7 kinds of dinosaurs made it on Noah’s Ark. /face palm. The “Flood” killed all the dinosaurs that didn’t make it on the Ark. Dinosaurs were all herbivores and so they didn’t eat man. Evolution of birds from dinosaurs are inconceivable because birds were created on the 5th day. Dinosaurs are not mentioned in the bible because the word “Dinosaur” was first thought up of in the 1800s. But it does use the Behemoth, and Leviathan references that some believe was indeed pertaining to Dinosaurs. So that’s where they believe that Dinosaurs existed alongside man.
Now back to the ones that completely don't believe in Dinosaurs. I'm never one to knock what people believe in, however that usually pertains to that of which there is no physical evidence for, so imagine away. Dinosaurs do NOT fall into this category thus my struggle to understand. So much scientific proof and physical evidence, I cannot say that enough, and people still don't believe. Parents that do not want their child to learn of anything Prehistoric and earlier. That's naive and ignorant. Parents that suppress any form of historic learning from their child is just sad. No I'm not only talking about dinosaurs, just prehistory in general. Deprive your child from learning everything and anything about true history they possibly can is abuse in my opinion. If I had a kid, they would be the smartest little shit in the whole world.
 I LOVE DINOSAURS!!!!

Identifying gender with color

Its a light topic that just swirls around in my head.
Why do we associate color with gender? Why do boys have to wear blue and girls have to wear pink. Ok ok. So maybe when most babies pop out you cant tell what gender they are and parents use it to dress their babies so other people know. I work at a baby store, trust me I am thankful for the pinks and blues that customers dress their babies in, cuz if not for that, the question I'd be thinking to myself most is, "what is it?" Sometimes they do throw a curve ball at me and a baby is wearing greens, greys and yellows...
I'll just keep my mouth shut.
But then there are parents that completely catch me off guard.
Story time.
Specific style bottle from a brand comes in a purple tint. It does not come in blue or clear. The lady's reaction to this dilemma was unexpected...
"I would never let my son drink from a purple bottle"
OK what??
It's a fuckin baby, it's a fuckin bottle. She said it with such disgust at the thought of her son drinking from a purple bottle. A color, that in her mind apparently ONLY identifies with the female gender.
My reaction was just "oookkkaaayyy, it's just the color of the bottle" and I politely left her to her decision on what ever bottle color she felt was appropriate to give to her kid. When kids get old, clothes is a different story. Styles and the cuts for boys are different yet they still make pink boy polos and pink plaid shorts for boys. They still give that option, and yeah, its up to the parents to buy it.
I really don't know why It bothered me so much, it's just fuckin colors of the products. I don't have kids so no, I don't know what it's like to actually give my kid something to use or wear.
This next encounter didn't bother me so much. A Lady and her mother was looking for bottles.
The blue tinted bottles were on clearance and more then half off the price of the pink bottles (exact same, just different packaging). I pointed out the clearanced ones, the ladie's mom kindly said "oh I like the pink ones, It's my first grandchild and she's gonna be a spoiled princess with everything pink. Grandma is buying it.". That made me laugh, and like I said, it didn't bother me. It was in a different color choosing circumstance I guess.
I've heard on several occasions people would tell me that I would be an awesome mom. Why? I wonder. Is it because I'd let my kids express every weird aspect of their personality. I'd let my kids go out in clothes that doesn't even match. My little girl wants to wear a pirate hat and a tutu... well shit, you go right ahead.
However seeing what things cost nowdays, and being better at my spendings. I work retail, I know things on clearance are there for manufacturer cycle reasons and not because the product is second class. I would never be opposed to shop on the clearance. My son won't grow up damaged if he drinks out of a pink bottle that I bought on clearance because the manufacturer simply changes the packaging. My daughter won't grow up scarred because mommy bought her a pacifier with blue trucks on it. You might think, but you can't talk any of this crap, you don't have kids. This is true, but if I did I wouldn't be a color gender identifying bigot neither.
